SBA Welcomes Charles Craig, Consulting Campus Planner

Steffian Bradley Architects (SBA) is pleased to welcome Charles Craig, AICP, LEED AP, an expert for campus and facility planning, as a strategic partner. Charles will collaborate with our academic team, offering his insights to the challenges and opportunities that currently confront academic campuses and communities.
 
Charles specializes in service to non-profit institutions including facility programming and campus design. He has a particular focus on best-practice space utilization. Whether a campus plan, program and concept for a new building, or a plan for staging improvements within existing buildings, Charles believes the essence of an effective project is a core idea clarified by understanding the client’s goals and unique context of the opportunities at hand. This allows him to craft the best solutions and most suitable environments for his clients.
 
Charles brings 35 years of experience to SBA, with over 200 planning engagements with universities, colleges, preparatory schools, museums, and healthcare and research facilities. His training is grounded in architecture and urban planning, behavior-environment research, and graphic design. He is skilled in client relations, campus and building surveying, contextual analysis, data analysis and benchmarking, concept design, report design and writing, business development and proposal preparation, project budgeting and administration, and team coordination. His working approach encompasses integrated campus planning, campus and environmental analysis, site and building conceptdesign, facility programming for multiple building types, preparation and interpretation of space inventory databases, space utilization analysis, strategic assessments for capital planning, and writing.

SBA Teaming with the MacDuffie School
SBA’s academic studio was recently selected by The MacDuffie School in Granby, MA to provide services for a two-step project. First, the preparation of a campus Master Plan, and second, design services for phase one of construction. The MacDuffie School is a rigorous co-educational college preparatory school for boarding and day students in grades 6-12. SBA’s team, led by Principal-in-Charge, Derek Noble, AIA, LEED AP, Project Manager, Eddie Widofsky, AIA, LEED AP, MCPPO, Master Planning Campus Planner Expert, Charles Craig, AICP, LEED AP, and Lead Interior Designer, Susan Sclafani, NCIDQ, will work collaboratively with the school, administration, faculty, students, and extended community to deliver an engaging future-oriented master plan that will guide the growth of the school by providing education in an adaptable, flexible, and responsive campus environment.
