Lean Journeys to Spain

July 2016, Steffian Bradley Architects (SBA) and Sterling Planning Alliance (Sterling) held the International Group for Lean Construction (IGLC) Gemba Session in our Boston office where we discussed SBA/Sterling’s process of Continuous Improvement in our practice and our work with clients.

In attendance, was Mr. Derek Drysdale, from the Lean Construction Institute in the United Kingdom. Derek is the Chairman of LCI-UK, a civil engineer with over 35 years of experience with large highways, railways, nuclear and general construction organizations. He is responsible for over £3 billion of infrastructures projects in the UK and US. His passion for continuous improvement can be seen throughout his career through the implementation of Value Management Programs in both nuclear and railway organization.

Impressed by SBA/Sterling’s commitment to the lean philosophy and approach, Derek reached out to us wishing to incorporate our material into his session at APCE conference, in Madrid, Spain on October 6th.  From his past practice he has learned there is not a great deal of experience or awareness of lean thinking in the United Kingdom & Spain.  Derek will be integrating our lean philosophy, approach, and tools into his presentation, showcasing our successful implementation process into our projects.

At SBA we continue to develop, learn from, and share our Lean experiences as much as possible. We are thrilled that our Lean journey is making its way across the pond!

If traveling to Spain to attend Derek’s session isn’t in the cards right now, you still have a chance to learn about Lean! Email us and we would be happy to meet with you or provide more information!
